How To: Keep A Routine When You’re Self Employed.

Keeping a routine is a DAILY struggle, right?At least it is for me.

Being self employed affords you SO much freedom. Which can be a HUGE blessing or a curse… Just depending on the type of person you are.

I tend to be the type of person that thrives on a rigid schedule and a hefty to do list that SOMEONE ELSE has created for me 😅

Luckily, I’ve found some things that really help me stay on task and on schedule.

Schedule yourself.

When you’re self employed means you get to CHOOSE your schedule. Which totally rocks.

If you really want to make an income as a self employed person, I recommend actually scheduling yourself each week. Decide when you’re on the clock and when you’re off.

I like to break down my stuff into block scheduling.

Kind of like this:

Make sure to give yourself time to be a human. It’s easy to over schedule and think you’ll get more done but, that’s just not the case.

Make sure your life has balance. I’m still figuring that out 🤷

Keep a morning routine.

When you work a regular day job, you usually have a morning routine, right? Something that prepares you for the day ahead.

It should only make sense to have a similar routine if you’re self employed.

Do something that wakes you up. (Like exercise)

Drink water.

Make yourself breakfast.

Visualize.

Make a day plan.

A morning routine sets the tone for your day. It helps to have an awesome one!

Have Core Activities

What are Core Activities?

Basically, they’re activities that you do EVERY day that help you stay on target.

Some of my core activities include:

Taking our puppy out first thing

My Morning Protein shake.

Making a to-do list.

Making my bed.

Schedule Instagram posts.

Etc. Etc. 😊

Having core activities will help you keep focused on your routine and get you back on track if you fall off the wagon.

Branding is my favorite part of marketing. It creates a cohesiveness to your business and allows your follows/buyers/peeps to relate to you in a more intimate way. PLUS It will help set you apart from all the “other guys”.

Branding ROCKS and should definitely be a key part of your business or personal endeavors.

Here are 5 quick tips to help you brand yourself:

1.Decide who you are.

This is THE most important step for virtually every part of promoting your business. You have to get really clear about who YOU are.

Here are some questions to help you get started:

  • Who are you?
  • What do you do?
  • What are you promoting?
  • What’s the big idea?
  • How do you compare to other businesses or influencers?

Answering these questions will help you get a clearer understanding of what you want to convey to your followers.

2. What’s the Mission?

Creating a mission statement or just an overall mission for your personal/business endeavor will help you keep your eye on the prize and really help you stream line and give your branding PURPOSE.

  • Why did you start all of this?
  • What are you hoping to accomplish?

People love to follow people who have goals and an ultimate reason for doing what they do.

3.Define audience.

Who do you want to reach?

It’s okay to not be EVERYONE’S cup of tea. Actually, it’s better! The more specific your audience is, the more loyal your following can be and the easier it is to target when you start getting into advertising.

Sit yourself down and think about what you’re offering and who specifically you want to offer it to!

4. Establish a color scheme

What’s your aesthetic?

Picking a color scheme will help your audience to identify you in the ocean of social media posts or advertisements.

Our brains are like 70% more likely to remember something we SAW. So help your followers to associate you with some gorgeous color schemes.

5.Create a Logo

What do you want people to identify you with?

Are you a photographer? Maybe include a classy camera. Are you a writer? Maybe a pen or pencil or something that alludes to what you do!

If YOU are your brand, you can just use your name and create something gorgeous and classy.

Parade of Homes -St. George 2018

If you’re hardcore into ‘window shopping’ (especially for houses), the Parade of Homes is for you!

This last week we decided to take a trip down to St. George to see what all the fanfare surrounding the Parade of Homes was about. We were not disappointed.

These homes ranged from $450k- 4 Million in price. The styles and themes were vastly different but all of them were so beautiful!

Landscaping:

Landscaping is something I always keep an eye out for. I love the outdoors and my dream house will have a GIANT back yard as well as land for daysss.

However, the parade of homes is definitely more focused on the HOME, there isn’t a lot to the yards besides pools.

Here are some of the cool features that WERE there:

You can’t have a Parade house without a dreamy kitchen, it’s the law. I can not WAIT to move into our new place with a giant kitchen!

A Blondie’s Guide: ‘Whole Food’

Let’s talk about ‘Whole Foods’.  

If you’re a little crunchy like I am you’ll get why whole food is a big deal. Now, I am not talking about the Grocery store chain. I’m talking about real actual food!

HELLO HELLO! Today we are going to be chatting about ‘WHOLE FOODS’ … so if you’re not into learning about food or you don’t like to eat food or you’re not into eating good foods… stop reading NOW.

If you ARE looking for a some resources about things to put in your body to make it happier AND healthier, you are in the right place.

What are ‘Whole Foods’?

Definition: “plant food that has been processed or refined as little as possible and is free from additives or other artificial substances.” (Thank you google.) For example.. Fruits, Veggies… good grains.

That sounds easy enough, right? Well.. it’s not. Take a good look at what things you may have in your fridge or in your pantry or cabinets. I am willing to bet most of the food that you have stored away in there doesn’t quite meet the requirements for ‘Whole food’. In today’s world it’s much harder to find unprocessed, unrefined, un-tampered with food. Even a lot of the produce we consume has additives or artificial substances added to it.

Crazy, right?

Note: Check out the labels on your food! If you can’t read it or pronounce it, it most likely isn’t whole food and it probably isn’t too awesome for you.

Why do we need ‘Whole Foods’?

Now, I don’t mean to scare you, everything will be OKAY. Not having a strict diet of only ‘Whole food’ will not kill you and hasn’t been proven as a cause of cancer or any of that kind of junk (Maybe)… our bodies just don’t function as well without them. ‘Whole Foods’ are an essential part to having a healthy balanced body and life!

Our bodies were MADE to process and use Whole, Fresh, food! Imagine a life where all you ate was ‘Whole foods’, I’m sure you’re picturing more energy, a more balanced state of mind. Perhaps, clearer skin and memory, greater health and vibrancy. You are SO right. Our bodies function on a whole different level when we give them the nutrients they need without all the fillers or frills. Eating more whole foods is essential to health and a HUGE step in the right direction if you are ready for an improved healthy lifestyle.

How can we incorporate more ‘Whole Foods’ into our lives?

That being said, how in the world are we supposed to incorporate more Whole Foods into our diets? Easy Peasy. Buy them. I know what you’re thinking… ‘how am I supposed to eat that stuff?’ RECIPES! If you are on Pinterest I am SURE you will find what you need to make these whole foods sound appetizing. Create meal plans, get your family in on it, make it a goal! You will thank yourself later for being so proactive with your health.

The truth of the matter is that our bodies crave these foods and what we can find at the grocery store wont entirely sate that craving or fulfill all of the nutrients our bodies need. That is the BIGGEST reason I advocate for supplements.

5 ways to actually ACHIEVE your goals in 2018

As 2018 kicks into full gear, I’ve been thinking a lot about what I want to accomplish this year and how I’m going to really achieve my goals!

But, here’s the deal.. I want to help YOU too! Let’s be accountable together 🙂 SO lets talk about all the awesome ways you’re gonna kick 2018’s bootayy!

Here are FIVE things I’m implementing to kick my goals in the butt in 2018:

Learn from 2017

Spend a moment to just think about the Good, Bad and The Ugly from the past year.

I’ve spent like 6 weeks just reminiscing about 2017. Thinking about all the amazing blessings that I was a part of and trying to figure out what went wrong with some of the goals I set for myself.

I’m a huge believer in evaluation and not self sabotage. It’s okay to look back at things in your life and evaluate what could be better. However, it is NOT okay to think you’re a terrible person because things didn’t work out

Experience makes for a good road map.

The biggest thing for me last year was, my work ethic. I would set huge goals and just wait for them to happen. That’s no way to accomplish anything is it?

Use your past experiences to help you get realistic and clear on the things you’re working towards. You really CAN accomplish anything you set your mind to but, are you willing to put in the time and effort?

Set Solid Goals

Put things into sections

After you’ve done some self evaluation, you may realize that you have TONS of goals you want to make for 2018. ME TOO! My favorite way to keep them all organized is by putting them into sections and only making two BIG goals for each section. The sections I use are: Mind, Body, Family, Society, Finances, Spirit.

Get S.M.A.R.T.

Once you’ve decided on the basics of your goals, it’s time to get S.M.A.R.T. If you haven’t heard of this method of goal setting, it rocks!

It stands for Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant & Timely.

If you can’t break a goal down into these categories, it’s not a very attainable goal.

Maintain progress

Set small ‘progress’ goals

You gotta keep yourself motivated. It is SO important to keep yourself on target if you really want to achieve your goals.

A good way to help you do this is by setting small goals. Quarterly, Monthly, weekly or even daily!

I love LOVE love checklists. Also making some type of progress visual will TOTALLY help you stay motivated.

Setting bite-sized goals & ways to progress will make your goals seem more attainable.

Stay Optimistic

Crap is going to hit the fan. It’s part of living in this world. Although, when it does happen, it is so important for your optimism shine through.

These goals you’ve made are just waiting for you on the other side of the hurdles that life has put in your path! Seriously, Heavenly Father or the Universe or whatever you want to call it.. wants you to succeed!

Become Obsessed

Write them down daily

You should be really clear on your goals at this point, right? Well now it’s time to put it to the test.

Are you obsessed with them? I’m not talking about jut wanting them… Or wishing really hard… Are you OBSESSED?

  • Is everything you’re doing helping your work towards your goals?
  • Are your thoughts consumed with the thought of achieving it?
  • Have you cut out all the unnecessary stuff?
  • Have you posted reminders all around your house?
  • Are you writing them down EVERY day?

Writing all of your goals down every day may seem a little insane but… I KNOW that it will help you get SO much closer to your goals!

It keeps them present and weighing on your brain.. Your brain will do anything to help you get there!

So get yourself a notebook or journal and write down 15-20 of your goals EVERY day.

Don’t Forget to Celebrate

A KEY part to setting goals is the “after party”. How are you going to celebrate when you’ve reached your goals?

You’d think just achieving the goal would be enough, right? Wrong. Depending on the goal, having some reward AFTER achievement will help you look forward to it and work even harder!

Believe in yourself

The biggest thing I learned from 2017 is that I need to have more belief in myself. If I want to achieve anything, I need to believe in myself.

I can’t let past mistakes define me & I need to have faith that I can do hard things!

If you feel like you’re not quite there yet, get yourself an ‘accountability’ partner who believes you are! It always helps to have an incredible tribe along the way.
